Run the Test
1. Run the test.
a) From the MTS TWX controller panel, reset the interlock if necessary.
b) Power up the HPU and HSM by clicking the Power Low and Power High buttons in sequence. If
appropriate, use the button in the lower right corner of the Power panel to access the HPU power
buttons.
c) Click the Run button. The test will start.
2. Enter the specimen diameter (in this case 5 mm), and click OK.
3. After the test has run, click No at the Return to zero? prompt.
Depending on when you zeroed displacement, returning to zero could cause the broken specimen
halves to contact each other because of the plastic deformation. MTS recommends selecting No at the
