5. Depth-of-Field AE (DEP)

This mode is for obtaining sharp focus between a specified point in the
foreground and one in the background. It is effective for large-group

photos and landscapes. The camera automatically focuses at the

optimum distance and sets the required shutter speed and aperture. The

focusing point you use can be manually or automatically selected or eye-

selected.

Depth-of-field AE with a Manually-Selected Focusing Point

Select the desired focusing point.

Set the Command Dial to

DEP.

Aim the selected focusing point at
the nearest point you want in
focus, then press and release the

shutter button. This is dEP point 1.

• The in-focus indicator lights and

dEP

(dEP 1) is displayed in the viewfinder and

on the LCD panel
