measurement area. The imaged area is only dependent on the optics of the

instrument. Therefore, the area is constant an d specific for each instrument.

2.2.4 Cassette handling

The image analysis method of the NucleoView NC-

3000™ offers considerable

stability, when elim inating non-cellular objects from the image, including scratches

and smears on the Cassette windows, and thus producing valid results even under

extreme conditions. On the other hand, the quality of the cell count is best assured

by keeping the windows of the Cassette as clean as possible.

Caution! In order to avoid contaminating the measurement window it is important not

to touch the window when handling the Cassettes. Be careful when attempting to

wipe off the surface of the Cassette, in an attempt to rem ove any foreign object,

since the plastic material of the Cassette can be scratched. In section 5.2 Inserting

and removing the Cassette see how to place and remove the slide from the sample

tray.

2.2.5 The slides

In order to present analysis for assays demanding external handling of reagents

traditional glass slides are available as a 2 chamber and in an 8 chamber version.

The maximal analysis volume in each chamber of a 2 chamber slide is 16 µl in an 8

chamber it is 5.6µl per chamber.

Normal pipettes can be used to load the sample to be analyzed with the slide. After

analysis the slide must be handled as biological waste. In section 5.3 Inserting and

removing the slide see how to place and remove the slide from the sample tray.
