5. Foil Test

Soniclean recommends that the tray be removed from the Irrigator to ensure the foil test is accurate.

5.1 How to perform foil test:

1. Complete the usual start process

2. Use a strip of ‘home’ brand aluminium foil about 150mm long x width of roll.

3. Make sure Lid is closed

4. Press Test Key to switch on ultrasonic and unit will run for 30 sec as programmed

5. Open the Lid and insert the foil vertically into the bath.

6. Keep foil in the bath until LID is displayed

7. Remove the foil and compare the number and distribution of perforations with the sample foil test

provided with your machine.

8. Refer Australian Standard AS/NZ 2773.1-1998, page 16 for more details.

5.2 Foil Test Problem Solving:

If you are having difficulty getting a foil test to perform to standard, work through items 5.2.1 and 5.2.2 then
try foil test again. If problems persist please contact your service agent.

As per AS/NZ 2773.1-1998, it is acceptable to use alternative methods of testing the performance of your
ultrasonic machine. Examples such as aluminium disc and pencil test, or the Soniclean UPM probe must be
used as per manufacturer’s instructions.

5.2.1 Machine may require further degassing.

1. Remove any load within the machine

2. Degas the machine

5.2.2 Detergent Type and Dilution.

1. Always use alkaline detergent (pH 8 to 10.8) that is made specifically for ultrasonic machines.

Soniclean recommends Sonic 1, with 0.5% dosage.

2. Check that detergent bottle is full and that different detergents have not been mixed. Ensure bottle

and hose are connected and that there are no kinks in the line.

3. Extra detergent may be added to overcome water quality issues.
