XC880A OWNERS MANUAL

10.2 Barcode Printer

The XC880A may be connected to a barcode label printer to produce

several types of labels depending on the operating program. These include
standard shipping, and inventory labels, Automotive AIAG labels, as well as
custom label formats created with the SS Label utility.

The XC880A currently supports three barcode printer families, these

include Datamax, Zebra and Zebra-Eltron LP Series printers. These printers can
be used to produce labels as described in section 7.4.

The 4MB serial FLASH option is required to print labels on either of these

printers. AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) labeling requires a special
operating program to prompt for and print required data on industry standard
AIAG labels. In most applications, the barcode printer is connected to COM2, but
may be connected to any available com. port. Setup the desired port as described
in section 7.2.

10.3 Analog Output

The XC880A may be equipped with an analog output board which will

provide a 0-10VDC or 4-20mA output which can be interfaced to PLC’s or other
external devices. This output can be configured to reflect the current gross, or net
weight present on the scale.

Any standard XC880A may be equipped with this option by the

installation of an add-on board, and activation of the feature through keyboard
parameters. Follow the procedure below to install, and activate the analog output.

10.3.1 Board Installation

1. Disconnect power from unit, and remove 4 screws securing the front

keyboard bezel.

2. Locate the 40 pin interface connector marked J17 on the main board.
3. If the main board does not have the standoffs already mounted to the

board, it will have to be removed and the included standoffs secured
to the board. There are 4 mounting holes on the Analog Output
Board which match mounting holes on the main board where the
standoffs are mounted. Reinstall the main board.

4. Carefully install the Analog Output Board onto J17, making sure the

pins are aligned properly.

5. Secure the Analog Output Board onto the four standoffs using

4-40 x ¼” screws.

6. Replace the front bezel.
