Test 22- Test Low Oil Pressure Switch

PROCEDURE (CONT’D);

1. Set a VOM to its “Rx1" scale and zero the m eter.

2. Unplug W ire 85 from the sw itch term inal.
3. Connect one VOM test lead to the pressure sw jtch

term inal; the second test lead to fram e ground. W ith
engine shut dow n, the m eter should read "continuity".
4. Crank and attem pt to start the engine. As the engine

cranks and attem pts to start, the pressure sw itch con­
tacts should open and the m eter should read "infinity".

RESULTS:

1. Replace the low oil pressure sw itch if it fails the tests.

2. If the pressure sw itch checks good, go to Test 23.

DISCUSSION:

The high coolant tem perature sw itch is connected

in parallel, in the sam e circuit as the low oil pressure
sw itch. Failure of the engine to start can be caused by
a defective tem perature sw itch.

RESULTS:

Replace tem perature sw itch if it is defective.
