Tighten the top tether belt to remove all the
slack by pulling the free end of the top
tether belt toward the car seat (Fig. 40).
Securing your child:
Open the protection shield by rotating the protection shield across the front
of the seat and place beside the car seat.
Place your child in the car seat, making sure
that child's back is contacting the backrest.
Check to see that the seat cushion and
headrest are adjusted to the size of your
child (section 5.1.1 and 5.1.2).
Secure the child by placing the protection
shield in front of the child with sides in the
protection
shield slots and slide the
protection shield back so that it rests comfor-
tably against your child's torso (Fig. 41).
Pull the vehicle’s lap belt over the protection
shield and lock the vehicle buckle tongue in
the vehicle buckle (Fig. 42). Make sure that
the belt tongue locks securely in place with
a noticeable “click” and check it by pulling
on the belt. Slide the lap belt completely
into the red belt guide on both sides of the
protection shield (yellow arrows in Fig. 42).
