The PBX must be tested to ensure that 911 call overflow and Out of Service conditions are

handled correctly.
Overflow conditions are handled by the PBX. 911 calls should always have alternate

routing assigned in case the primary call path becomes unavailable.
If the 9145 ISDN line becomes busy because of too many calls, or the ISDN line is out of

service, the most important thing is for the call to complete to an operator even if that

means the operator only gets a pilot number.

In the case where the PBX has more than one ISDN-PRI line, one or more of the additional

ISDN lines should be set as an overflow path.
Unplug the ISDN-PRI U line from the 9145. Place a test call. The 911 call should route out

one of the overflow lines. Verify that the call routes to a 911 Call Taker. The number (ANI)

that the Call Taker receives may be the station number, but it may also be a pilot number

depending on the PBX and CO settings.

Remove power from the 9145 Server. The 9145 is designed to cut the ISDN-U (PBX) side

through to the ISDN-N (CO) side. Place a test call and verify the call connects through to

the 911 operator. The operator may receive the station number or a pilot number. Re-apply

power to the 9145. Verify that normal operation resumes.

In a networked environment such as school district, there may be multiple remote

locations that route 911 calls through a single ISDN-PRI line. A test call must be made from

each location to ensure the remote switches are delivering the PBX station number to the

host, and that the host in turn is capable of delivering the station number to the 9145.
You can retrieve the event log to verify the calling station number and 10 digit number sent

for each of the test calls.
