OPERATION

Engine Break-in

There is never a more important period in the life of your motorcycle than the period

between zero and 500 miles (830 km). Because the engine is brand new, you must

not put an excessive load on it for the first 500 miles (830 km). The various parts

in the engine wear and polish themselves to the correct operating clearances. Dur-

ing this period, prolonged full throttle operation, or any condition which might result

in excessive heating of the engine, must be avoided. Read the following informa-

tion and follow each step in the break-in of your vehicle.

GUIDELINES FOR ENGINE BREAK-IN

CAUTION

If any operating trouble should occur during the break-in period, consult a Victory

dealer immediately.

Parking

When parking the motorcycle, stop the engine and remove the main switch key.

WARNING: Do not come in contact with the muffler or exhaust pipes after the

engine has been running. They will be very hot and will cause serious burns if

touched. Park the motorcycle in a place where pedestrians or children are not like-

ly to touch the motorcycle. Do not park the motorcycle on a slope or soft ground;

the motorcycle may fall over.
