Chapter Two: Getting Started

9. Configuring the Internet connection

35

5.

Fill in the fields as indicated below.

6.

Click Next. The DIVA LAN ISDN Modem displays a summary of your settings and asks you to verify
them. For example, this screen shows the configuration settings for a connection with no backup
telephone number, and no DNS server addresses.

A

This is the name assigned to your Internet connection profile. It is recommended that you do not change
it.

B

Specify your ISP’s ISDN phone numbers. If your ISP uses two numbers (one for each B-channel), enter
the second one after the first. Separate the two with an ampersand (&), a tilde (~), or a forward slash (/).
For example: 7451111/7451113

C

Set a communications protocol for this connection. If you are unsure about which protocol to use, leave
the default setting (MLPPP). It has been chosen to work with the majority of switches.

See “Choose a connection protocol” on page 20 for more information.

D

If you are using AO/DI, enter the X.25 address of your ISP. The wizard will set default values for other
X.25-related parameters, which should work for the majority of connections. If your AO/DI connection
does not work with these default settings, you will have to configure these parameters manually. See
“Configuring AO/DI” on page 63 for instructions on how to do this.

E

Specify the user name and password given to you by your ISP.

F

If your ISP supplied you with the addresses of its DNS servers, enter them. If not, leave these addresses
as 0.0.0.0. When the DIVA LAN ISDN Modem connects with your ISP, it will automatically discover
these addresses (if supported by your ISP).
