2. Make sure that the ScanSnap is not yet connected to your personal computer.

3. Start up your personal computer.

Log on as a user with "Administrator" privileges (computer administrator privileges when
using Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition operation system).

4. Exit all programs and close all windows.

ATTENTION

The ScanSnap may not function if it is connected to the USB port on the
keyboard or the monitor.

If you are using a commercially available USB hub, use a type equipped with
an AC adapter.

To connect the ScanSnap with USB 2.0, it is required that the USB port and
the hub be compliant with USB 2.0. When you connect the ScanSnap with
USB 1.1 port, scanning speed may slow down. Therefore, use the USB 2.0
compatible one if your computer has the USB 2.0 compatible port.

If the CPU and memory do not meet the required specifications, scanning
speed will slow down.
