SOUND CONTROL
■ Volume
Press the VOLUME button to increase the volume and the VOLUME but-
ton to decrease the volume.
● The volume display can be changed within the range of "0" to "40".
■ Pre-programmed equalizer
When the PRE-EQ button is pressed, the current mode setting will be displayed.
To change to a different mode, press the PRE-EQ button repeatedly.
0 - 40
■ Extra bass (X-BASS)
Press the X-BASS button to emphasise the bass region of the frequency spectrum.
"X-BASS ON" will appear.
Press the X-BASS button again to cancel the extra bass mode.
"X-BASS OFF" will appear.
DISPLAY SECTION
You can change the brightness of the display.
When the power is on, press the DISPLAY button for at least two seconds.
● The display section will become brighter.

To return to the original brightness, press the DISPLAY button again for at least
two seconds.
Note:
● The brightness setting of the display is maintained even after the unit has entered
stand-by mode.

COMPACT DISC OPERATION
Caution:
● Do not carry the unit whilst CDs are in the trays or a MiniDisc is
loaded. The discs may come loose inside the unit and they may
be damaged or cause damage to the unit. This may also cause
malfunctions.
● Do not place two CDs in one disc position.
● Do not push the disc tray whilst it is moving.
● Do not attempt to push the disc tray by hand. This may cause
malfunctions.
● If the power fails whilst the tray is open, wait until the power is
restored.
● If the disc tray is stopped forcibly, "DISC ERR" will appear in the
display and the unit will not function.
If this occurs, press the ON/STAND-BY button to enter the stand-by
mode and turn it on again.
● If TV or radio interference occurs during CD operation, move the
unit away from the TV or radio.
● If a disc is damaged, dirty, or loaded upside down, the disc will be
skipped and the next disc will automatically play.
● If the CDs are dirty or have label adhesive on their surface, make
sure to clean them before loading.
● If the CD 0 6 button, any of the CD 1 0 - 3 0 buttons or the
7 button is pressed when a disc tray is open, the disc tray will
close automatically. Be careful not to catch your fingers.
● If the unit is shaken by impact or vibration, playback may be dis-
rupted. If the playback volume of a CD is raised excessively, play-
back may be disrupted. If this occurs, lower the playback volume.
