FORMATTING THE DISC

The DVD-RAM Disc requires formatting before it can be
used for storing data. Follow the procedures described
below to format the DVD-RAM Disc on the Disc
Recorder.

Note:

This recorder is only designed for use with 2.6 GB

type of DVD-RAM disk, and any other disk can not
be used with this recorder.

1. Turn on the Power Switch located on the rear of the

Disc Recorder.

2. Press the Disc Cover and Control Panel to open the

covers located on the front of the Disc Recorder.

3. Press the

OPEN/CLOSE

button on the Control Panel

to slide out the disc tray.

4. Confirm that the disc is write enabled, then insert it

with the disc label first into the tray.

5. Press the

OPEN/CLOSE

button on the Control Panel

to slide in the tray.

6. Press the

(–)

and

(+)

buttons simultaneously for

about 2 seconds. The LOGICAL FORMAT menu
shown below appears.
If the disc loaded is not formatted, the LOGICAL
FORMAT menu appears automatically on the moni-
tor screen.

7. Move the cursor to the FORMAT parameter in the

menu by pressing the

or

button, then con-

firm that the parameter EXECUTE is selected.

8. Press the

SET

button to start formatting. Formatting

will be completed in about 30 seconds.

9. To stop formatting, press the

SET UP/ ESC

button

for about 2 seconds.

10. To unload the disc, press the

OPEN/CLOSE

button

to slide out the tray. Then press the

OPEN/CLOSE

button again to slide in the tray.

11. Close the Disc Cover and Control Panel.

Logical Format Menu

This menu lets you specify the logical format for
recording and playback of the DVD-RAM Disc on
the Disc Recorder.
It also allows you to make the following settings.

Format Password Setup:

For setup and verification

of a password allowing access to the disc for-
mat.
Refer to Password Setup on page 31 for details.

Volume Label Setup:

For assigning a volume label

to the disc currently loaded in the Disc
Recorder.
Refer to Label Setup on page 30 for details.

Disc Password Setup:

For setup and verification of

a password allowing access to specific records.

See below.

Note:

If the PASSWORD is attempted for the FOR-

MAT parameter in this menu, it is disabled for-
matting the disc.
Press the SET button to display the Password
menu, then verify the password. After these pro-
cedures, start formatting the disc.
