The figure below represents the Netopia R2121 status light (LED) panel.

The following table summarizes the meaning of the various LED states and colors:
When this happens... the LEDs...
when the corresponding line is ringing 2 and 8 flash yellow
when the modem has carrier 3 and 9 are green.
when the line is busy for a non-data call 3 and 9 flash red.
Includes both directly attached and extension phones. (Red,
for when the line is not connected and if the phone
extension is off the hook; orange, for when the attached
phone is off the hook.)
when the router initiates an incoming or
outgoing call 3 and 9 flash green
when data is transmitted 4 and 10 flash yellow.
when data is received 5 and 11 flash yellow.
when carrier is asser ted 6 and 7 are green.
when data is transmitted or received 6 and 7 flash yellow.
when data is transmitted or received by the
ethernet controller 12 flashes yellow.
when the Ethernet inter face detects a collision 13 flashes red.
