Notes:
• The computer running Smar tStar t must be on the same Ethernet cable segment as the Netopia R2121.
Repeaters, such as 10Base-T hubs between your computer and the Netopia R2121, are acceptable, but
devices such as switches or other routers are not.
• Smar tStar t for the PC will set your TCP/IP control panel to “Obtain an IP address automatically” if it is
not already set this way. This will cause your computer to reboot. If you have a specified IP address
configured in the computer, you should make a note of it before running Smar tStar t, in case you do not
want to use the dynamic addressing features built in to the Netopia Router and need to restore the fixed IP
address.
