Bandwidth

Bandwidth is often used as a synonym for data transfer rate - the amount
of data that can be carried from one point to another in a given time
period (usually a second). This kind of bandwidth is usually expressed in
bits (of data) per second (bps). Occasionally, it's expressed as bytes per
second (Bps).

Client/Server

Client/server describes the relationship between two computer programs
in which one program, the client, makes a service request from another
program, the server, which fulfills the request.

Console

The system console, root console or simply console is the text entry and
display device for system administration messages, particularly those
from the BIOS or boot loader, the kernel, from the system and from the
system logger.

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a communications
protocol that lets network administrators centrally manage and
automate the assignment of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses in an
organization's network. When using the Internet Protocol, each
machine that can connect to the Internet needs a unique IP address,
which is assigned when an Internet connection is created for a
specific computer. Without DHCP, the IP address must be entered
manually at each computer in an organization and a new IP address
must be entered each time a computer moves to a new location on
the network. DHCP lets a network administrator supervise and
distribute IP addresses from a central point and automatically sends
a new IP address when a computer is plugged into a different place
in the network.

DNS (Domain Name System)

The domain name system (DNS) is the way that Internet domain
names are located and translated into Internet Protocol addresses.
A domain name is a meaningful and easy-to-remember "handle" for
an Internet address.

Download

Downloading is the transmission of a file from one computer system
to another.

Dummy Hub

Dummy hub may include a group of gateway cards for connection
to a local area network (for example, an Ethernet or a Token Ring),
and a connection to a line.
