How many PC Expanions can be connected to one host PC via the
network equipment ?

Will this with Windows® 98 or Windows ME?
PC Expanion supports Windows® 2000 Professional, Windows® 2000
server, Windows® XP Home Edition, Windows® XP Professional,
Windows® XP Media Center Edition, Windows® 2003 Standard
Edition/Enterprise Edition, Windows® Small Business Server 2003
and Linux. For supporting other OS, please contact the technical
support team.
Do I have to upgrade the NCT-2000-XP program?
No, you don’t need to upgrade the program if you do not have
problems using it. However, since Microsoft is releasing security
updates regularly, you may experience conflicts with new security
updates. When a conflict with a security update is reported, a new
version of the software will be distributed within a week. For more
information refer to out website. In addition, a new version provides
more functions. Therefore, using the latest version is recommended.
Must the version of the NCT-2000-XP programs in a sub-network
be the same?
Yes, they must be the same. Keep the program updated with the
latest version. The latest version resolves problems of the previous
version and provides more advanced functions. Since different
versions in the same sub-network might cause data communication
problems, please use the same version in a sub-network.
Do I have to delete or stop the firewall, the security or anti-virus
programs when I install NCT-2000-XP?
No, you do not have to delete or stop them. However, some firewalls,
security and/or anti-virus programs may cause problems when NCT-
2000-XP is installed. In this case, you have to stop the real-time
monitoring function of such a program to install NCT-2000-XP properly.
In addition, the real-time monitoring function may cause problems
when you use PC Expanion too. For detailed information, refer to our
website.
Do I have to setup a password for the NCT-2000-XP console
password?
Yes, we recommend setting a password for the NCT-2000-XP console.
Otherwise, anyone can change the settings configuration in the console.
Since the settings determine the PC Expanion operations, please keep
the console password secure.
What if I forget the password of the NCT-2000-XP console ?
Please refer to ’26. How to mange when the user forgets the password
of NCT-2000-XP program” in Part 8 in the manual.
Do I have to add a user account to use the PC Expanion?
Yes, you must add a user. PC Expanion enables multiple users to have
access to one computer simultaneously. If many users logon with the
same user account, the last logged off user’s settings will be saved. In
addition, all users could see the contents created by other users causing
a security problem. You must add the necessary number of user
accounts and protect them with passwords.
