INTRODUCTION

The RS232 Interface Accessory is a bidirectional interface which enables Portable

Advanced

Electronic Balances to communicate with a printer or computer equipped

with an RS232 serial port. The interface assembly is easily installed in the balance and
communication parameters are configured using the Print menu after installation.

Use the following procedure to install the
RS232 Interface accessory.

TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE BAL-
ANCE, BE CERTAIN THAT POWER IS
DISCONNECTED BEFORE REMOVING
THE COVER.

1.

Disconnect power to the balance.

2.

Remove the Platform from the bal-
ance, and turn the balance upside
down. (Do not remove Platform on
CT6000 Models.)

3.

Remove batteries if installed.

4.

The bottom plate is held by four
screws, one located in each corner.
Remove the four screws and lift off
the bottom plate.

5.

At the rear of the balance, a protective
label is provided which covers the
hole for the 9-pin RS232 connector.
Peel off the label to expose the hole.

6.

The circuit board in the balance con-
tains a circuit connector. Obtain the
RS232 Interface Accessory and care-
fully install the ribbon connector from
the Interface onto the edge of the
main circuit board as shown.
