5.2 Operating position

The pump is usually installed in a horizontal position. It can also be installed vertically or obliquely. Howe-
ver, for safety reasons, avoid installation with the motor underneath.

5.3 Positioning

Install the pump allowing adequate clearance on the motor side (K value in the dimensional table in the
catalogue) for motor disassembly and inspection of the liquid end, without the need to disconnect the
pump body and the pipes.

5.4 Anchoring

The pump should be securely fastened to the base by bolts through the motor or pump feet.

5.5 Suction and delivery pipes (See fig. 1)

Install a non-return valve in the delivery pipe to protect the pump from excessive back pressures and re-
verse rotation. In any applications where the pump’s delivery may be totally restricted we recommend fit-
ting a relief valve in the delivery pipe, or a recirculation bypass between the delivery side and the supply
tank.

FIGURE 1

Correct installation

A = Eccentric reductions

B = Positive gradient
C = Good immersion
D = Large bends
E = Suction pipe diameter ≥ pump

port diameter

F = Suction lift depends on the pump

and installation (*). In normal conditions
this should not exceed 5-6 m.

G = The pipes should not weigh on the

pump, but on separated supports.

FIGURE 2

(*) Suction lift is determined based on liquid

Incorrecte installation

temperature, flow resistance and NPSH

1 = Sharp bend: high flow resistance

required by the pump.

2 = Insufficient immersion: sucking air
3 = Negative gradient: air pockets
4 = Pipe diameter < pump port diameter:

high flow resistance.

6. Start-up

6.1 Electrical connections

Make sure that the rated voltage corresponds to the supply voltage.

Ground the pump before making any other connection.

We recommend that a high sensitivity differential switch (30 mA) be installed as extra
protection against lethal electric shocks in the event of faulty grounding.
