To create an event using the captured DWORD, in the Event Properties menu, select SAS
Data Pattern (or SATA Data Pattern), and then select any of the 12 DWORDs (DWORD 0
Type through DWORD 11 Type). The drop‐down menu provides the choice of a custom
DWORD or any of the four captured DWORDs (see
Figure 4.18 on page 245 ). If you select
a captured DWORD, the Value field beneath this selection is hidden (the Value field is
only used for specifying custom DWORDs). Note that choice of a mask and an offset are
still available when using captured DWORDs.

Captured data DWORDs may also be used in the Substitute Data DWORD test state
action. From the Action Properties screen, choose Substitute Data DWORD and then
select the Substitute for property. A drop‐down menu is provided (see
Figure 4.19 on
page 246 )that allows the choice of a custom DWORD or any of the four captured DWORD
registers.
