To summarize the switchover:

Synchronous remote-copy volumes are created on source and target arrays using the same
WWN addresses.

The source and target volumes are exported to the same host set from both arrays using
different target port groups supported by persona 11 (VMware).

Using ALUA, paths to the source volumes are presented as active, and paths to target volumes
are presented as standby.

The HP 3PAR Quorum Witness—which must be on a third site—is configured and connected
to both arrays by using a non-remote-copy link.

Manual Transparent Switchover

A manual transparent switchover is initiated by issuing the setrcopygroup switchover
command on a remote-copy group-by-group basis on the current primary storage system. The
following sequence of actions is executed as part of the switchover operation (see

Figure 46 (page

138)

):

1.

The source array target port group is changed to transition state.

2.

The source array sends a remote failover request to the secondary array.

3.

The target array target port group is changed to transition state.

4.

The target array takes a recovery point snapshot.
