4.7 Configuring Recovery Manager for DAG

Recovery Manager for Exchange provides support for Database Availability Groups (DAG)

(4.1.0 and later). DAG configurations can be implemented at a single site or span multiple sites.

Each configuration will have one central Recovery Manager for Exchange backup server and at

least one active Mailbox Server and a potential maximum of 15 passive Mailbox Servers. For

example:

If your DAG configuration uses a single InServ at a single site, you will require one Backup

Server.

If your DAG configuration spans multiple InServs at a single site, you will require one

Backup Server.

If your DAG configuration spans multiple InServs at a single site, you will require an

additional host server for verifying mailbox virtual copies.

If your DAG configuration spans multiple InServs at a single site, you will need to connect

one InServ to the backup server and the otjher InServs should have additional hosts

connected for virtual copy verification purposes, unless the production DAG host is used as

verification server.

If your DAG configuration spans multiple InServs at multiple sites, you will require one

Backup Server per site.

You will need to configure the provider to use the InServ that each backup server and

Exchange production will connect to. This is done through the Provider's

ProvCfg.exe

utility

(see the Provider's user's guide for details).

If your DAG configuration has one InServ, then add only that one InServ using

ProvCfg.exe

.

If your DAG configuration has two InServs at one site, you will need to add both InServs to

your backup server.

NOTE: The minimum number of virtual copies allowed is 1 and the maximum is

500. The default is 10.
