3PAR Recovery Manager 4.1.0 For Microsoft Exchange 2010 User’s Guide

6.6.1 Creating a Virtual Copy of a Mailbox Database

1

Navigate through the node tree view on the left pane and locate the Mailbox Database for

which a virtual copy is to be created.

2

Right-click the Mailbox Database and select Create > Virtual Copy.

Once a virtual copy is created, it appears under the Virtual Copy Management node. The

virtual copy is given a timestamp that is used as its name.

6.6.2 Creating a Remote Virtual Copy

1

Navigate through the node tree view on the left pane and locate the Mailbox Database for

which a virtual copy is to be created.

2

Right-click the Mailbox Database and select Create > Remote Virtual Copy.

6.7 Mounting a Virtual Copy

A virtual copy can be mounted at the timestamp level. Once a timestamp is mounted, all stores

(mailbox, public store, logs) under the timestamp are mounted.

To mount an individual store:

NOTE: A virtual copy can only be taken of a Mailbox Database that is online.

NOTE: Creating a virtual copy of a Mailbox Databas creates a virtual copy of all

the volumes where the Mailbox Database data (logs and edb files) resides.

Therefore, it is recommended that volumes storing exchange data files are not

used to store any other data.

NOTE: A virtual copy may only be mounted to one host at a time.
