10. DAILY INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE

Visually check the whiffle (5) at the rear of the
outer intermediate boom (6) to see that the
whiffle face (5) is parallel to the end of the
boom (6).

At the front of the base boom (7) visually check
all four spring-washer stacks (8) to see that
there are no gaps between the washers.
Visually check to see that the face of the whiffle
(9) is parallel to the edge of the boom (10).

Also at the front of the base boom, check to
see that the face of the whiffle (11) is parallel to
the face of the whiffle support (12).

If any whiffle (1) (5) (9) (11) is canted, or if any
of the six stacks of spring washers (3) (8) has
gaps, remove the TB120 from service
immediately and have a qualified service
technician repair the condition.

31. Envelope management system

Extend and lock the rear axles.

Use the controls on the ground-control box to
raise the main boom slightly above horizontal.

Use the controls on the ground-control box to
extend the booms until they automatically stop.

The black & yellow tape (1) should be within 2
inches (5 cm) of being flush with the end of the
hose carrier cover (2) and the EMS
ENVELOPE lights (3) (4) should be on.

NOTE: The EMS ENVELOPE lights (3) (4)
should start to flash a few feet before boom
extension stops.

If the booms stop in the wrong place or the light
does not work correctly, take the TB120 out of
service immediately until a qualified service
technician makes repairs.
