ZIPPER INSERTION (CENTERED AND SIDE APPLICATION)

Preparations:
Attach presser foot “J” and sew straight stitches up to the crotch
end. Change to a basting stitch and sew to the top of the fabric.

Caution
Before sewing, gently turn the hand wheel to check the needle position.
Make sure that the needle does not come down onto the foot, or it could break and cause injury.

1. Press the seam allowance open and attach the zipper with a

basting stitch in the middle.

Centered application

2. Attach the I foot (see p. 32). Turn the needle position adjust-

ment knob on the back of the foot to position the foot so that
the needle comes down over the right side of the foot (as
shown).
(Adjust foot position so the needle is positioned over the right
side of the foot when sewing the left side of the zipper, and
over the left side of the foot when sewing to the right of the
zipper.)

3. Sew with the machine on the right side of the fabric, and then

remove basting.
