Setting the Ground Jumper in Ungrounded Power Configurations

Setting the ground jumper is necessary only when using an ungrounded or high-impedance
grounded power configuration. Setting the ground jumper involves accessing the power chassis
and removing jumper plugs or disconnecting wires on the power terminals.

Set the ground jumper with power removed and the drive mounted on a bench or in a panel.

When using ungrounded input power in common-bus configurations, use this table to
determine where to set the ground jumper.

Ground Jumper to Set

IMPORTANT

If you have grounded power distribution, you do not need to set the ground jumper. Refer to

.

ATTENTION: Kinetix 7000 drives contain protective metal oxide varistors (MOVs) and common
mode capacitors that are referenced to ground. In a grounded power distribution system, these
devices assist in isolating the drive from electromagnetic interference (EMI).

These devices must be disconnected if the drive is installed in an ungrounded, unbalanced,
impedance grounded, or common DC-bus power distribution system.

ATTENTION: To avoid personal injury and/or damage to equipment, verify that the voltage on
the bus capacitors has discharged before removing or installing jumpers. Measure the DC bus
voltage at the DC+ and DC- terminals on the power terminals. The voltage must be zero.

By setting the ground jumper for ungrounded power configurations, the drive does not have
line-to-neutral voltage protection.
