Charge and Bleed

Prepare Cylinders

51. Disconnect the rod ends of both marker cylinders.

Support the rod ends of the cylinders so that upon
full rod extension, the clevis cannot strike any marker
components.

Bleed Independent System

Refer to Figure 17
52. At the tractor or other hydraulic power source, set

remote lever controls to Neutral. Connect the
implement fold/marker circuit to a hydraulic power
source. Engage hydraulic power.

53. Set buckets or other oil collection containers under

both marker base ends. Loosen (“crack”) the NPT
connection at the elbow.

54. Except for an observer wearing appropriate safety

equipment, clear all persons from the vicinity of both
marker cylinders.

55. Slowly Extend each marker circuit until oil appears at

the cracked connection. Set each circuit to Neutral.
Re-secure the NPT connection.

Note: If oil does not appear after a reasonable time,

open both cylinder needle valves by one turn
counter-clockwise.

56. Extend the circuits once more, fully extending the

cylinder rods. Watch carefully for mechanical
interference. Set circuits to Neutral.

57. Move the buckets to the rod ends. Crack the NPT

connections at the hose side of the needle valves.

58. Retract the circuits until oil appears at the cracked

connections. Set circuits to Neutral. Secure the
cracked connections.

59. Extend and retract both circuits a few times,

checking for leaks.

Continue at “Re-Connect Cylinder Rods” on page 13.

High Pressure Fluid Hazard:
System bleed requires intentional hydraulic leaks. Escaping
fluid under pressure can have sufficient pressure to penetrate
the skin causing serious injury. Use a piece of paper or
cardboard, NOT BODY PARTS, to check for leaks. Wear
protective gloves and safety glasses or goggles when working
with hydraulic systems. If an accident occurs, seek immediate
medical attention from a physician familiar with this type of
injury.

Equipment Damage Risk:
Bleed only at JIC and NPT fittings.
Never try to bleed a QD (Quick Disconnect) fitting.
Avoid bleeding at ORB fittings. The O-ring is likely to be torn
if any pressure remains in the circuit.
