Section 3 Adjustments

2S-2600 and 2S-2600F Two-Section Folding Drill 195-200M-A

00 Series Opener Frame Adjustment

You can adjust opener frames between two operating
positions–one for normal down pressure and one for high-
er down pressure. The adjustment is near the opener-
frame pivots. See Figure 3-12. There are three holes and
two bolts. The bottom bolt (1) serves as the pivot. The top
bolt (2) is for adjustment.

For normal drilling conditions, keep top bolt in second hole
as shown in Figure 3-12. Use this setting when drilling with
opener down pressure below 1600 psi.

When drilling with opener down pressure above 1600 psi,
place top bolt in top hole on all four pivot points across drill.

00 Series Disk Scraper Adjustment

To keep opener disks turning freely, dirt scrapers are
mounted between disks to clean as the disks rotate. As
field conditions vary, you may need to adjust scrapers. In
damp conditions, lower scrapers. If openers are not turn-
ing freely, raise scrapers.

To adjust, loosen 3/8-inch bolt shown in Figure 3-13 and
move scraper as needed.

00 Series Seed-Lok Lock Up

Optional Seed-Lok firming wheels provide additional
seed-to-soil contact. The wheels are spring loaded and do
not require adjusting. In some wet and sticky conditions
the wheels may accumulate soil.

To lock up firming wheels, refer to Figure 3-14. Hook one
end of chain in opener-body hole just above wheel arm
(1). Pull firming-wheel arm (2) up as high as possible and
wrap chain around arm. Hook other end of chain in a link.
Leave no slack in chain; secure wheel arm in its highest
position.

Crushing hazard – You will be seriously injured or killed if you
are caught between raising openers and drill frame. Always
stop tractor engine, set park bake, and remove key before ad-
justing or servicing openers. Keep all bystanders well away
during drill operation.

Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing
serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before
disconnecting hydraulic lines. Use a piece of paper or card-
board, NOT BODY PARTS, to check for suspected leaks. Wear
protective gloves and safety glasses or goggles when working
with hydraulic systems. If an accident occurs, see a doctor im-
mediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically re-
moved within a few hours or gangrene may result.

Opener down pressure controls opener penetration and
press-wheel soil firming. Use only enough down pressure
to cut a furrow and maintain proper soil-firming over seed.
Excessive opener down force may cause bulldozing of the
openers in light soil conditions, and will lead to premature
wear on opener components.
