2.

Remove the expansion-card cage as instructed in “Removing the Expansion-Card
Cage
” in Chapter 7.

NOTE: Verify that the power LED on the riser board (see Figure 8-2) is off before
removing the card cage.

Open the ejectors on the RAID controller DIMM socket down and outward, as
shown in Figure 8-10, to allow the DIMM to be inserted into the socket.

See Figure 8-1 for the location of the socket on the system board.

Align the DIMM's edge connector with the slot in the center of the DIMM
socket, and insert the DIMM in the socket (seeFigure 8-10).

The DIMM socket has two alignment keys that allow the DIMM to be installed in
the socket in only one way.

NOTE: The RAID controller DIMM must be an unbuffered DIMM, rated to run at
100 MHz or faster. Do not substitute registered DIMMs such as those used for
system memory.

Press on the DIMM with your thumbs while pulling on the ejectors with your
index fingers to lock the DIMM into the socket (see Figure 8-5).

6.

Install the RAID hardware key in its socket on the system board (see Figure 8-1).
Insert the hardware key into the socket and secure the key with the latches on
each end of the socket (see Figure 8-11).
