Verify the functionality to be installed on the appliance. CommVault Simpana Backup and Recovery can be

installed as a CommServe system including the Media Agent, or as a Media Agent only.

Windows network domain information is required for installation. Check with the network administrator for these

settings.

Confirm that Windows Disk Manager can access the external disk.

Ensure that the CommVault Backup and Recovery software is not already installed on the DL2

x

00 system.

NOTE: If the CommVault Backup and Recovery software is already installed, the Recovery and Update

Utility does not allow the reinstallation of the backup application. The option to reinstall the backup

application is inactive.

To reinstall the CommVault Simpana Backup and Recovery software:

1.

Launch the Dell PowerVault DL Backup to Disk Appliance Recovery and Update Utility.

2.

Select Re-install Backup Application and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the reinstallation.

Repairing CommVault Simpana Backup And Recovery

If the CommVault Simpana Backup and Recovery software gets corrupted or unusable and must be reinstalled, you
must:

1.

Uninstall the CommVault Simpana Backup and Recovery software using Programs and Features located in the

Windows Server 2008 control panel.

NOTE: When uninstalling the CommVault software use the SQL administrator SA password:
2StrongPassword!

2.

Follow the steps in

3.

Restore the Disaster Recovery Backup data using the CommServe Disaster Recovery Tool.
