Attaching Elastic


Elastic can be applied directly to the fabric, such as when making lingerie.
If the elastic is 3/8” wide or less, the elastic can be placed into the
Standard Foot’s opening, making it easier to evenly stretch the elastic
while sewing.

Machine Set-Up:
Stitch:

Multi-Zigzag

or

Stretch

Honeycomb

Stitch

Stitch Width:

5 or 7

Stitch Length:

3 for Multi-Zigzag or Stretch setting

for Honeycomb Stitch

Presser Foot: Standard Foot

Materials:
Nylon Tricot 4” x 8”
3/8” wide elastic strip, cut 7” long

Procedure:

Thread elastic through the needle-opening hole in the foot.

Pull 2-3” of elastic to the back of the foot, enough to firmly grasp.

Position fabric under the foot.

Sew, gently pulling the elastic while sewing.
