13. How to adjust stitch length

The stitch length dial on this machine is pre-set to 3mm for

normal sewing. Adjust the stitch length to 4mm when sewing

heavyweight fabrics such as quilting and to 2mm when sewing

lightweight fabrics such as lining fabric, crepe, etc. and you

will obtain excellent seams without puckering.

When chainstitchiii”. set stitch lenctli to over 2mni.

4. How to fine-tune overedge seam width

The standard overedge seam width of this machine is 3.5mm when sewing with only the right overedge

needle or 5.2mm when sewing with the left overedge needle. In addition to the widths achieved with

different needle positions, the width may be increased up to a maximum of 7.2mm overedge by use of
the overedge seam width adjustment knob. The width adjustment knob is also handy for fine-tuning the

cutting width for different fabrics and for rolled hemming.

Before making the adjustment, be sure that the power line plug is disconnected from the wall re­

ceptacle.

(2) Open the looper cover. (See page 9)

Turn the hand wheel toward you, lower the movable knife as far as it will go and set it in the non­

operating position. (See page 11)

(4) Remove the cylinder cover. (See page 9).

Turn the overedge seam width adjustment knob and

with the graduations on the throat plate as a rule,

adjust to desired seam width.

(6) Replace the cylinder cover. (See page 9)

Return the movable knife to its original position and

close the cover.

Note:

Do not set the overedge seam width below

3.5mm

as this may cause tlic stationars' knife to interfere
with the throat plate.
