• An SDD of 66 centimeters (26 inches) should be used when possible.
• Increasing the distance between the tube and detector decreases the signal to the
detector and may cause a loss of precision.
• Decreasing the distance between the tube and detector increases the signal.
• Increasing the field size does not have a direct effect on the kV measurement, but will
effect the exposure measurement because of increased scattering.
• Beam uniformity may affect the overall accuracy of the measurement.
