SPECIFY THE WATER CHILLER FOR 1-TORCH SYSTEMS

The water chiller for the HT4001 system is a refrigeration unit that is capable of reducing the
water coolant temperature to the electrode well below ambient air and water supply tempera-
ture. Having this capability greatly increases the life of the nozzle and electrode. The water
chiller is a three-phase power system that directly interfaces with the RHF console. A source of
supply water must be available. A water softener may also be required. See Pre-Installation
in the HT4001 instruction manual (#802000).

There are two types of water chillers for use with a one-torch HT4001 system: a 1-torch 600
Amp chiller and a 1-torch 1000 Amp system. Order the 1000 Amp system if cutting with over
400 amps.

The water chiller should be located near the power track or festoon entrance (see Figure 1-3
on pg. 1-5). It must be level to ensure the water level control switches function properly. The
unit should be bolted to the floor, and, if possible, near a floor drain. The water chiller must
have at least 10 inches (254 mm) of free air space at the condenser inlet and outlet.

Determine the available voltage and where the water chiller will be placed.
Order the appropriate system from the parts list on page 1-19.

SPECIFY THE WATER CHILLER(S) FOR MULTI-TORCH SYSTEMS

When specifying a multi-torch system, the proper number of water chillers will need to be
specified for the number of torches being used. For example; a 3-torch system would require
one 2-torch water chiller plus one 1-torch water chiller, while a 2-torch system would require
only one 2-torch water chiller.

The water chiller(s) should be located near the power track or festoon entrance (see Figure 1-3
on pg. 1-5). It (they) must be level to ensure the water level control switches function properly.
The unit(s) should be bolted to the floor, and, if possible, near a floor drain. The water chiller(s)
must have at least 10 inches (254 mm) of free air space at the condenser inlet and outlet.

Determine the available voltage and where the water chiller(s) will be placed.
Order the appropriate system from the parts list on page 1-19.

SPECIFY THE COOLING HOSE SET BETWEEN THE WATER CHILLER
AND THE RHF CONSOLE

The cooling hose set contains two cooling hoses. There are two hoses in the cooling hose set
for a 1-torch system, and four hoses in the 2-torch system. Therefore, double the cooling hose
set order for a 2-torch system. Hoses are connected to the RHF console and the water chiller.

Determine the length of hosing needed (the path that the hoses will run) to connect to the
RHF console, and order from the parts list on page 1-19.
