Shortcuts
There are several shortcuts in CRSC’s ‘Remote Panels’ page that make configuring remote panels
quick and easy. Please refer to the CRSC User’s Guide.
NV9000 Networks
Routers
For CR Series routers, you must specify an IP address, in CRSC, that is appropriate for use in the
NV9000 control system. Subsequently you will define an entry for that router, in NV9000-SE Util-
ities, that has that same IP address and that uses ‘NV Compact Router’ protocol. You will also
specify, in NV9000-SE Utilities, the router’s physical level(s), in much the same way as you would
in CRSC.
In NV9000-SE Utilities, router I/Os must be defined (and grouped into “devices”). Considering all
the routers in the entire NV9000 system, this is a fairly complex task. Defining router I/Os in
NV9000-SE Utilities is different from defining router I/Os in CRSC.
After specifying the router’s IP address, you must connect it into the NV9000 system’s Ethernet
network. This might require removing the router from the subnet on which you used it in CRSC.
Panels
If CR Series control panels are to be used in an NV9000 system, you must set up, in CRSC, one or
more remote panel modules for NV9000 operation. (Do this in the ‘NV9000 Remote Panel
Settings’ page. Please refer to the CRSC User’s Guide for details.)
There is an option in the ‘NV9000 Remote Panel Settings’ page not to use DHCP for panel
discovery, instead giving the panel a static IP address. (That is not recommended because DHCP
is NV9000-SE Utilities’ normal method of identifying panels.)
In NV9000-SE Utilities, create panel configurations for your remote panel modules, specifying
either NVRP16 or NVRP32 as the panel type. Your remote panels are then configurable
according to the methods and constructs of NV9000-SE Utilities. The configurations of remote
panels created in NV9000-SE Utilities have only a slight resemblance to panels configured in
CRSC.
In NV9000-SE Utilities, all panels require unique panel IDs. Be careful about defining panel IDs.
When you create, or change, a panel configuration, eventually you will write the entire NV9000
configuration to the system controller. You can use the ‘Dynamic Update’ button in NV9000-SE
Utilities to save time if all you have to update are panel changes.
How to Convert a Remote Panel Module
1 Go to the ‘NV9000 Remote Panel Settings’ page.
2 In the ‘Remote Panel’ tab, click the radio button on the row listing the remote panel module
you want to convert.
3 Either check the ‘Enable NV9000 Mode’ check box to convert the remote panel module.
Or uncheck the ‘Enable NV9000 Mode’ check box to revert the remote panel module to use
in a CRSC network.
