Power-off sequence

Keep the following in mind every time you turn off your
computer, scanner, and other SCSI devices.

❏ When you are finished using your system, turn off your

computer first, then the scanner and other SCSI devices in
reverse order of the power-on sequence.

❏ While using your computer, do not turn off any SCSI device

which has a terminator that is on.

❏ Do not turn the scanner off and back on while using your

computer; otherwise the scanner may not work properly.

When changing the ID number or replacing the
SCSI board in Windows 98

If you want to change the SCSI ID number of your scanner, or
replace your computer’s SCSI board, you may need to remove
your scanner from your system first, depending on the version of
Windows 98 installed on your computer. If Windows 98 Second
Edition is installed on your computer, you can make these
changes without removing the scanner from the system. If your
version of Windows 98 is not the Second Edition, you need to
remove and then reinstall the scanner software in your computer
as described in “Changing the ID number or SCSI board” on page
2-16.
See the next section for instructions on checking your
Windows 98 version.
