Shooting Night Portraits (With a Tripod)

When you want to photograph people at night and obtain a natural-looking

night scene in the background, use the <

6

> (Night Portrait) mode.

Note

that an external Speedlite is required for shooting.

Using a tripod is

recommended.

Shooting Tips

z

Use a wide-angle lens and a tripod.

When using a zoom lens, use the wide-angle end to obtain a wide night

view. Also, since camera shake is prone to occur with handheld shooting,

use a tripod.

z

Check the image brightness.

Note that it is recommended to play back the captured image on location

to check the image brightness. If the subject looks dark, move nearer and

shoot again.

z

Also shoot in other shooting modes.

Since camera shake is prone to occur with night shots, shooting also with

<

A

> and <

F

> is recommended.

o

If you use the self-timer together with an external Speedlite, the self-timer

lamp will light up briefly after the picture is taken.
