Chapter 6

Troubleshooting

This chapter provides information on troubleshooting problems
that may arise while you are using your Netopia ISDN PC Card.
Many factors may cause a communications problem: your device,
the cables, the telephone line, the remote device, or the Netopia
ISDN PC Card itself.

To isolate the problem, consider the following:

Was anything changed recently in the configuration or setup
that may have affected the Netopia ISDN PC Card's function-
ality?

Does the problem occur when you attempt to connect to a
remote device for the first time?

Is this a consistent problem that you can duplicate easily?

Before you call Farallon Technical Suppor t for assistance, you may
want to check the following:

1.

Verify that the ISDN cable is plugged into the ISDN inter face
connector, and make sure it is also plugged into the ISDN
wall jack. The Netopia ISDN PC Card will not operate if con-
nected to an analog telephone wall jack.

2.

Monitor the status of the LEDs. See the section on LEDs in
Chapter 5 for information on proper LED functionality.
