TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST

NETWORKING REQUIREMENTS

I have the following:

Cable or High Speed Internet Connection

Router

The DVR, properly connected to power

The Ethernet cable provided with the DVR system

A Windows based PC that is properly connected to the Internet

The most recent version of Internet Explorer Installed on the computer

PREPARING THE DVR

I have done the following to the DVR in the following order:

Shut down (turned off) the DVR.

Connected the Ethernet cable to the back of the DVR.

Connected the other end of the Ethernet cable into my router.

Turned the DVR back on.

Ensured that the DHCP, DDNS, and Web Service boxes under the Networking menu is checked (General>System>Network). All boxes should

have the yellow checkmark in them.

After hitting APPLY to save the changes, the system has restarted.

NETWORKING INFORMATION

I have recorded my DVR’s networking information for me to access later:

PREPARING YOUR COMPUTER

I have done the following to my computer:

The ActiveX Settings on my computer are changed to the ones listed on pg.75

Installed the remote viewer software on my computer as directed on pg.76-77

PREPARING MY ROUTER

I have referred to the port forwarding guide on pg.83 and have done the following:

Enabled Port Forwarding on my router for Port 80

Enabled Port Forwarding on my router for Port 6100

FINDING AND TESTING MY EXTERNAL IP

I have done the following:

Visited http://www.whatsmyip.org

Recorded my external IP address as ______________________.

Opened Internet Explorer and entered my external IP into a browser window.

Accessed and viewed my DVR through my external IP address.

Advertising
