CODE EXAMPLE 6-2

OpenBoot Diagnostics Error Message

I

2

C Bus Device Tests

The

i2c@1,2e

and

i2c@1,30

OpenBoot Diagnostics tests examine and report on

environmental monitoring and control devices connected to the Sun Fire V490
server’s Inter-IC (I

2

C) bus.

Error and status messages from the

i2c@1,2e

and

i2c@1,30

OpenBoot Diagnostics

tests include the hardware addresses of I

2

C bus devices:

The I

2

C device address is given at the very end of the hardware path. In this

example, the address is 2,a8, which indicates a device located at hexadecimal
address A8 on segment 2 of the I

2

C bus.

To decode this device address, see “Reference for Decoding I2C Diagnostic Test
Messages” on page 111.
Using

TABLE 6-12

, you can see that fru@2,a8 corresponds to

an I

2

C device on DIMM 4 on processor 2. If the

i2c@1,2e

test were to report an error

against fru@2,a8, you would need to replace this memory module.
