Solving fax problems

Faxes quit during
sending.

There may be a poor connection to the
phone line.

The fax machine to which you are sending
may be malfunctioning.

The product memory may be full if the
Receive to Memory setting is enabled.

Your phone line may not be working.

Try sending again later.

Try sending to another fax machine.

Check the control panel display. If it
displays “Print Faxes,” there are faxes in
memory that need to be printed. See
“Printing faxes received to memory” on
page 35.

Connect the product to a different phone
line and try sending. Also, try connecting a
phone directly to the phone line and
making a call to check the phone line.

The HP LaserJet
3150 product is
receiving faxes but
is not sending
them.

If your HP LaserJet 3150 product is on a
PBX system, the PBX system may be
generating a dial tone the HP LaserJet
3150 product cannot detect.

There may be a poor phone connection.

The fax machine to which you are sending
may be malfunctioning.

Your phone line may not be working.

Disable the detect dial tone setting. See
“Changing detect dial tone” on page 126.

Try again later.

Try sending to another fax machine.

Connect the product to a different phone
line and try sending. Also, try connecting a
phone directly to the phone line and
making a call to check the phone line.

Outgoing fax calls
keep dialing.

If the call was busy, the HP LaserJet 3150
product redials for the number of times
specified.

To stop the redials while the HP LaserJet
3150 product is dialing, press

. If it is waiting to redial, stop the job

using Job Status. See “Canceling a fax job
using Job Status” on page 33.
To see how many times the HP LaserJet
3150 product is set to redial, print a
configuration report (see “Printing a
configuration report” on page 146) and
check the “Number of redials” entry. See
“Adjusting number of redials” on page 123
if you need to change the setting.
