Installing Memory Modules
Installing DIMMs
1. Insert the desired number of DIMMs into the memory slots, starting with slot P1-DIMM1A. For best
performance, install memory modules of the same type and same speed in the slots as indicated in the
tables below.
2. Insert each DIMM vertically into its slot. Pay attention to the notch along the bottom of the module to
prevent inserting the DIMM module incorrectly (see Figure 5-5).
3. Gently press down on the DIMM module until it snaps into place in the slot. Repeat for all modules
Memory Support
The embedded system supports up to 96 GB of registered ECC DDR3-1333/1066/800 SDRAM in
12 slots. (RDIMM modules are supported.)
Notes: Memory speed support depends on the type of CPU used. Due to OS limita- tions, some oper-
ating systems may not show more than 4 GB of memory. Due to memory allocation to system devices,
memory remaining available for operational use will be reduced when 4 GB of RAM is used. The reduc-
tion in memory availability is disproportional. (Refer to the Memory Availability Table below for details.)
