Picture (dotted lines or stripes)
noise

• Keep the system away from electrical noise sources such as cars,

motorcycles, or hair-dryers.

• Make sure that the aerial is connected using the supplied coaxial cable.
• Keep the aerial cable away from other connecting cables.
• Do not use a 300-ohm twin lead cable as interference may occur.

Picture noise when viewing a
TV channel

• Select [Manual Programme Preset] in the [Set Up] menu and adjust [AFT]

(Automatic Fine Tuning) to obtain better picture reception (page 47).

• Select [Noise Reduction] in the [Picture Adjustment] menu to reduce the

noise in the picture (page 40).

Stripe noise during playback/
recording of a VCR

• Video head interference. Keep your component away from the system.
• Leave a space of 30 cm between your component and the system to avoid

noise.

• Avoid installing your component in front of the system or beside the system.

Some tiny black points and/or
bright points on the screen

• The picture of a display unit is composed of pixels. Tiny black points and/or

bright points (pixels) on the screen do not indicate a malfunction.

No colour on programmes

• Select [Reset] in the [Picture Adjustment] menu to return to the factory

settings (page 40).

There is no picture

• If the FM function is selected, there will be no picture - ensure that this

function is not selected.

Picture noise appears

• The disc is dirty or flawed.
• If picture noise occurs during AV1 or AV2 connection, check the output

setting of the connected equipment. See the operating instructions of the
connected equipment for details.

Sound

Problem

Cause/Remedy

No sound, but good picture

• Press 2 +/– or %.

No sound when using HDMI
connection

• If you use only the HDMI connection, and the connected equipment does

not conform to PCM output, or equipment setting is incorrect, audio signal
may not be output. Refer to the instruction manual supplied with the
connected equipment for settings, etc.

Noisy sound

• See the “Picture noise” causes/remedies on page 83.
• If audio noise occurs during AV1 or AV2 connection, check the output

setting of the connected equipment. See the operating instructions of the
connected equipment for details.

Audio distortion

• See “Audio Filter” on page 47.

There is no sound

• Press % on the remote if “MUTING ON” is displayed in the front panel

display.

• The system is in pause mode or in Slow-motion Play mode. Press H to

return to normal play mode.

• Fast forward or fast reverse is performed. Press H to return to normal play

mode.
