TX (IR Transmit) Ports

A maximum of two IR devices (such as DVD players or VCRs) can be connected to the UDM via the
3.5mm stereo TX ports (TX1/2 and TX3/4) on the rear panel (see FIG. 5 on page 6), and controlled via
the WebConsole or remote control.

An IR02 Endeleo IR Splitter Cable (FG-IR02) can be used on each of the TX ports to allow using 2
devices per port.

If only two devices are connected to the TX ports:

TX1/2 – Transmits IR commands to Device 1.

TX3/4 – Transmits IR commands to Device 2.

Connecting an IR Device to an IRTX Port

To issue IR commands to the display device such as power on or power off, an IR01 Endeleo IR Emitter
Module (FG-IR01) is needed:

1.

Connect the IR Emitter Module cable to the appropriate IRTX port on the UDM-0404.

2.

Run the other end of the cable to the display device, and attach the IR Emitter over the device’s IR
sensor by removing the cover on the reverse side of the IR Emitter.

3.

The UDM-0404 is now capable of issuing IR commands to the display device.

IR commands for each device on the system have to be learned by the UDM-0404 in order to function
properly. Refer to the Creating and Learning an IR Protocol section on page 62 on how to learn a
device’s IR commands.

A/V Source Input Connectors

There are four sets of input connectors to the rear panel of the UDM-0404, labelled A, B, C and D
(FIG. 8).

IR devices controlled via the TX ports are typically installed within the same
equipment rack as the UDM.

Ensure the position of the device corresponds to the position assigned in the Devices
option of the UDM-0404’s WebConsole.
