Playing a Clip

This section describes playing Loaded clips from each of the following:

• the control panel

• the TruZoom computer UI

• computer keyboard shortcuts.

Control Panel Controls:

DELEGATE CLIP delegates the Jog Wheel and Shuttle Ring to clip playback. The Shuttle
Ring controls the forward and backward motion of the currently loaded clip. The Jog
Wheel jogs the clip forward and backward frame by frame.

The RWD button rewinds the clip to its first frame.

The PLAY button plays the clip from its current location. Pressing Play during playback
stops the clip. Pressing Play again resumes play from that location.

Use the LOOP button (toggle on and off ) to play a clip continuously, jumping from its last
frame to its first frame.

Computer UI Control:

The VTR transport style REW, Play, Jog Backward, Jog Forward, and Stop buttons on the
computer UI also control clip playback. See

“Player Transport Controls” on page 44

.

You can also shuttle the clip by dragging on the Scrub Bar.

Computer Keyboard Control:

If you activate the scrub bar by clicking on it, the following computer keyboard shortcuts
are available:

End – Cues to the end of the clip.

Up and Right arrow keys – Jogs one frame forward.

Down and Left arrow keys – Jogs one frame backward.

Pg Up and Pg Dn – Jogs 10 frames forward or backward.

Timeline Controls

Timeline Display

The Timeline Display is a graphical representation of the current timeline with its
keyframes.

Figure 33. Example Timeline Display

The timeline has a green time cursor that identifies the current location in the effect.
Keyframes are represented as flat-topped triangular icons. Above each keyframe is a
number identifying the video frame, and below an indication of the playback speed for
that portion of the effect (1.00 = 100%). The timeline is colored red where a Video Hold
(freeze frame) occurs.

The Timeline Display can be used to quickly go to any location in the effect and enter
timeline keyframes.

• Left clicking on the Timeline Display immediately cues the timeline to that time

location.

• Left click and dragging the time cursor on the Timeline Display scrubs the Timeline

back and forth.
