OPERATORS PENDANT CONNECTION

The Model 415 is supplied (standard) to operate Weld Heads and the Pendant up to 70 feet (21

meters) from the Power Supply Cabinet. The Pendant includes a built in 20 foot (7 meters)

connection cable and attaches to a 50 foot (15.2 meters) standard Pendant Extension cable. For

ease of operation the Pendant can be connected directly to the Power Supply without the use of

the 50 foot (15.2 meters) Extension Cable.

Perform the following steps for the installation of the Pendant:

1.

Connect the Power Supply end of the 50 foot Pendant Extension Cable to the Model 415

Pendant Connector on the Electrical - I/O Connect Panel (see Figure 1, Item 6).

NOTE

All Weld Head and Power Supply Electrical Connectors are keyed for proper mating. Insure

that correct connectors are being used before attempting to install.

2.

Connect the Cable on the Pendant to the Extension Cable. (see Figure 1, Item 5, 6).

3.6

INERT GAS CONNECTION

The Model 415 requires for operation, an inert gas source, gas pressure regulator and gas flow

meter. These items are not furnished with the Model 415 and must be supplied by the user.

1.

Mount a single or double stage pressure regulator (set pressure Maximum 90 PSI) and Flow

Meter (able to regulate between 5 and 100 CFH) on an appropriate gas supply.

2.

The Model 415 is supplied with a 15 foot Input Gas Hose with a standard 5/8 male NPS

fitting on one end and a Bulkhead gas fitting on the other end.

3.

Connect the Input Gas Hose to the Flow meter (NPS) and to the BULKHEAD Input Gas

Fitting at the rear of the Model 415 (see Figure 1, Item 14).

NOTE

Automatic GTAW welding systems are very sensitive to gas quality (purity). The hose

supplied with the Model 415 is specifically selected for its ability not to trap moisture or

aspirate oxygen. Rubber, Tygon or most other types of gas hoses are not recommended for

use with the Model 415 and will eventually cause welding problems.

CAUTION

The M-415 arc gas solenoid valve is rated at 90 PSI (620 KPa) maximum pressure, DO NOT

EXCEED THIS RATING.

WELD HEAD INSTALLATION

The Model 415 is Supplied standard with 3 weld head connection cables. These cables consist of

the

following:

1.

Weld Head Control Adapter Cable, 40 foot (12.2 meter) - This is the electrical Cable with

male multi-pin connector on one end and female on the other end (see Figure 1, Item 7).

2.

Weld Head Service Adapter Cable, 40 foot (12.2 meter) - This is the gas, coolant and

electrode power cable. Connectors on the Weld Head end are all quick disconnect type and

only mate with the correct Weld Head connector. Connectors on the other end are also

quick disconnect but only mate with the Power Supply Weld Head Connectors (on Weld

Head Connect Panel) or Extension Cables (see Figure 1, Item 8).
