Chapter 3 OPERATION/MAINTENANCE

3.4 SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

The purpose of the Operator Maintenance section is to describe the
maintenance operations which can be performed by the
User/Operator.

3.4.1 Computer System

The Operator Maintenance for the Computer System will be
described in the Operational Manuals for that computer system.

3.4.2 Spectrophotometer System

The

color-view™

Spectrophotometer requires very little operator

maintenance. Those items requiring attention are limited to areas
with external access such as lamp replacement and general external
cleaning.

3.4.3 Cleaning of Sensor

Large particles must be removed from the Spectrophotometer prior to
cleaning. The cleaning operation involves the use of a damp cloth
being applied to all external painted surfaces. A mild detergent or
soap may be used for removing grime, e.g. a Sparkleen® solution,
available from Fisher Scientific. The soap or detergent used should
be free of dye, i.e. color. Scouring powders should never be used
since they will permanently scratch painted or anodized surfaces.

1

Disconnect all power from Sensor (turn off Power switch
and disconnect power cord from Sensor).

2

Clean painted surfaces with non-abrasive household
cleaner and dry with paper towel or soft cloth.
