Catastrophic Error Events

Catastrophic errors are caused by the following events:

Reverse signal polarity is detected, and the design does not have
polarity reversal enabled.

Reverse lane order is detected, and the design does not have lane
order reversal enabled.

Lanes are in non-sequential order (that is, not in forward or reverse
direction)

Such errors are design issues that can only be encountered during system
validation and debug. End-equipment users are never intended to
encounter such errors.

Action

Should a catastrophic error occur, it will cause the SerialLite II interface to
enter into a non-recoverable state. You will need to reassert the reset
signal on the circuit board or power-cycle the circuit board.

Link Error Events

The following errors are considered link error events:

Eight consecutive {|TS1|} received in all lanes simultaneously in the
link-up state, as shown in

Figure 2–43 on page 2–72

.

Loss of character alignment

Loss of lane alignment

Loss of characters from underflow/overflow

Data error threshold exceeded

Retry-on-error timer expired three times
