TANK WATER SUPPLY

If the water heater is supplied with water from a tank supply and a pressure pump
system is not installed, then the bottom of the supply tank must be at least 1 m
above the highest point of the hot water plumbing system, including the water
heater. Care must be taken to avoid air locks. The cold water line to the water
heater should be adequately sized and fitted with a full flow gate valve or ball
valve.

WALL BRACKETS

It is a requirement of AS 5601 and AS/NZS 5601.1 to secure the water heater to
the wall. The top of the unit is to be secured to the wall (or screen) with the wall
brackets provided using fasteners suitable for the wall type and application.

The fasteners must be capable of bearing the weight of the water heater so it
may neither work loose, pull away from the wall nor impose any load on the gas
and water pipe work connected to the water heater. Refer to the fastener
manufacturer’s information and recommendations for the type of fastener to use
for the wall type and load bearing requirements.

To fit the wall brackets:

Position a bracket against the wall
on one side and toward the top of
the water heater and mark the fixing
points on the wall where the bracket
is to be secured.

Repeat this process with the
remaining bracket on the other side
of the water heater.

Drill

holes in the wall to receive

suitable

fasteners

for the wall

brackets

.

Fix the wall brackets to the wall
using suitable fasteners.

Secure the bracket to the side of the
water heater using the self tapping
screws provided.
