7.2 Basic AT Commands

The WINC 900A is designed to respond to the following Hayes compatible AT commands.

A - Answer On-line
The command ATA causes the WINC 900A to cease accepting commands and to wait for an
incoming connection request for up to register S7 seconds. If a pending connection request is
present, the device accepts the connection and enters the on-line state. Any following commands on
the same command line are ignored. If input is detected prior to entering the on-line mode, the
command is aborted.
Format:

ATA

Answer on-line.

Result codes:

CONNECT

Connection is established.

NO CARRIER

Connection not established due to S7 time-out or
command aborted.

ERROR

Connection already established.

D - Dial
The ATD command begins a transaction to establish a connection with a remote party. The WINC
900A transmits a connection setup request containing the destination address given on the command
line and waits for up to register S7 seconds for a response. If the connection is accepted, the device
enters the on-line state. Any following commands on the same command line are ignored. If input is
detected prior to entering the on-line mode, the command is aborted.

The destination address may be explicitly given on the command line or retrieved from the
configuration file's S register containing the stored address string.
Format:

ATDs

s=destination address string, plus optional dial modifiers. Default
dial string is the last destination address.

Dial Modifiers:

Dial modifiers specify additional information or actions during the connection
origination process and include T, P, W, @, Sn, and “;”.
These modifiers are included for Hayes compatibility and are ignored. Invalid
characters are ignored as well.
The Sn dial modifier substitutes one of the stored destination addresses. The
stored address list is defined with the &Z command.

Result Codes:

CONNECT

Connection is established.

NO CARRIER

Connection is not established or command aborted.

BUSY

Connection is refused and extended result codes are
selected (otherwise NO CARRIER).

NO ANSWER

No response is received from the destination within S7
seconds and extended result codes are selected (otherwise
NO CARRIER).

OK

Valid argument.

ERROR

Connection already exists.
